Some in deliverance today, who are influence by psychology, would have us believe that they have discovered hitherto unknown spirit beings called "alters" that are responsible for the multiple personalities that characterize certain individuals, especially those who have experienced extreme abuse. It is taught that these spirit beings are neither demonic, angelic or human spirits. They are said to be given by the Heavenly Father as a special provision, enabling the abused to cope with trauma until a trained psychologist can provide a better remedy. Alters are said to need new birth and the baptism in the Holy Spirit, but some are atheists and agnostics. In Jesus, God became man in order to provide for man's redemption. He did not die for "alters"! So, this is another gospel (see: II Cor. 11:4). The remedy proposed for multiples is either to blend the alters into one's core personality (as some insist) or be removed (as others contend). This blending or removing is said to require years of professional counseling.

How did these extra-biblical creatures become known? By interrogating them when they surface and speak through the host person during claimed deliverance sessions. Give me a break! Can you believe that this is being taught by people with straight faces? These so-called alters are nothing more than deceiving demons. This is a prime example of why we have always insisted that deliverance workers not interrogate evil spirits. There is the temptation of believing what these lying spirits say and thinking that one has gained secret and private information.

When anyone accepts what these suppose spirit beings called "alters" say [Alters are nowhere mentioned or hinted at in Scripture] and teach it as truth, then such teaching is literally a doctrine that demons teach!
